In Memoriam Amelia Earhart
Brian Lloyd Solo Flight Follows Historic Amelia Earhart Route
Miami, Florida, USA, June 1, 2017 – As pilot Brian Lloyd propels his single-engine plane named “Spirit” into the sky on a solo round-the-world adventure, he commemorates Amelia Earhart’s famous flight 80 years ago on this date in 1937. The two month flight will follow Earhart’s historic route to circumnavigate the world at the equator, which starts in Miami, skirts South America, crosses the Atlantic, then Africa, and onward around the world.
Prior to departure from his home airstrip in Texas, Brian Lloyd said, “I am driven by the spirit of historic flights. It is important to remember the aviation pioneers like Amelia Earhart, and their contributions to aviation. Their bold actions made today’s air travel possible for all of us.”
Now this is not a created bushtrip over a specific route, but a compilation of flight plans identical to Brian Lloyd's flight plan. Creating a bushtrip has so many limitations that I have refrained from doing so. For example, creating bushtrips cannot take into account time differences, weather, or times of day or year. In addition, few simmers are likely to sit down in front of the PC or console for 12 to 17 hours to complete a monotonous flight over the sea, because the simulation rate cannot be changed in a bushtrip. However, I do not want to publish this mission under the heading of flight plans, because it is not just a single flight plan, but in conjunction with the log of Brian Lloyd, there is a certain demand for every simulator pilot who dedicates himself to this task, in order to keep the memory of Amelia Earhart alive.
Installation:
Extract the folder from the package to the "LocalState" folder of MSFS 2020.
After that, you can access each flight using the "Load" option in the world map menu.
Specification:
- The mission consists of 39 individual flights around the world.
- Each flight can be recreated in Brian Lloyd's log. There you can read reports of his experiences, look at pictures and listen to original excerpts of radio traffic. Open the page in the background: http://projectameliaearhart.org/photos/
Scroll down the page to the bottom. There the preparation and the first flight begins.
Brian Lloyds Soloflug folgt der historischen Route von Amelia Earhart
Miami, Florida, USA, 1.
Why is this marked as a Bush flight? It's a flight plan.

At first glance mah this seem right. I have thought for some time whether it is right to publish the flight plan under bush trips. Finally I came to the decision that this trip, together with the logbook of Brian Lloyd, is already a real bush trip, which contains some challenges, but without the restrictions that bush trips usually bring.
